Northern Irish artist David C Clements has returned with a stripped-back version of his recent single, ‘Contrast’. It’s one of his most emotive releases yet, made even more so by this isolated, acoustic guitar-backed performance, which gives more space to realise the depth of his powerful lyrics. “The song itself is about connection and a celebration of our differences, the search for more understanding and empathy in an ever-contrasting world,” he says. He recorded this rendition of the track live in the Walled Garden in Bangor, which looks serene and scenic in the video. David C Clements is gearing up to release his new album, The Garden, on September 20th, 2024. It’s an eleven-track alt-folk album which, over the course of its long recording time, ended up accidentally documenting Clements’ life. -Dan Peeke
